STORE CATTLE

This sale included the fantastic entry of Breeding Cattle, Store Cattle and Feeding Cows from Margaretting Hall Farm. It was a wonderful occasion that attracted an immense amount of interest.

When I was near the start of my career, I did my three years at The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.  We had a visiting Law Lecturer in those days who worked as a Barrister in London. One day he was enlightening us about the future opportunities in our Industry and how a persons character would tend to infuence the type of role they would end up partaking in.  He then exclaimed that "however if you are a high flyer, you with fly high"
Well, yesterday's beautiful concoction was a perfect illustration of "flying high" - Top quality cattle presented to their potential new owners in the most professional way possible, showing fantastic attention to detail - which the man from Essex is a master of - even down the the 'Bistro' style cake and coffee stall providing the most opulent offerings free of charge. Another great thank you to Mrs Wright whose culinary skills greatly enhanced the day and gave an overall very humbling experience for this particular Auctioneer.
The sale progressed swimmingly well, with the 51 Cows and Calves on offer exceeding our expectations, pushed on by a gathering of outsiders and our loyal band of local buyers.
Top price was £4,500 (on her way to the South coast) with 9 further outfits selling over £4,000.
Even more expensive were the just served and In Calf Cows and Heifers, with 8 exceeding £3,000 to a top of £3,600 (off to Lincolnshire).
Rupert and Razor, the young Simmental Bulls attracted a lot of interest from the locals, with Rupert purchased by the Chairman and Razor also staying in Norfolk.

Once again, many thanks to the top man from Essex - buyers keep your eyes open for September - and to all the purchasers and market staff.

The following store cattle trade had to be seen to be believed, a common expression these days.  No strength at all but just look at the prices.
